The Gay Head lighthouse sits atop a multi colored Cliff at the western end of Martha's Vineyard Ma. , In June of 2015 the lighthouse was moon 129 feet because of the eroding cliff it sits on. This lighthouse was the first light house on Martha's Vineyard . Gay Head was one of the last towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to receive electricity in the early 1950s. Shortly after the town received electricity, the Fresnel lens was replaced in 1952 by a high-intensity electrified Carlisle & Finch DCB-224 Aerobeacon.

An absolutely must visit if going to the Vineyard. I been here twice. Once before they moved it and once after they moved it to its current location. Go up inside, take photos then if you have time walk down pathway to the beach. It was great and not crowded at all. We took scooter first time and public bus second time. I recommend bus

I came, but it was not as satisfying as expected.

great beaches
